About us

The Kaelin Family.

In 1946, Elmer and Elizabeth Kaelin purchased land in Franklin Park. Their farm included a variety of livestock, orchards, and produce. In 1976, their son, Donald Kaelin and wife, Ellen Kaelin, transformed the original barn into the current storefront. They began selling their produce out of the front part of the market. Throughout the years, the retail store was expanded, along with the addition of the kitchen and greenhouses. Today, their son, Curt and wife, Jennifer manage the farm with their two children, Abby and Matthew Kaelin. We are conveniently located 20 minutes north of Pittsburgh. Currently farming 120 acres and harvest a variety of fruits and vegetables to fulfill your fresh produce needs! We open in the spring for greenhouse season and our market transforms throughout the different seasons until Christmas Eve.

Greenhouses
What we offer: flower flats, potting plants, perennials, pre-designed containers in a variety of sizes, herbs, and hanging baskets. Call or stop in to inquire about us planting your containers for you!

Our Seasons at Kaelin's

Greenhouses
During the spring our seven greenhouses are filled with annuals, perennials, herbs, flats, hanging baskets, vegetable plants, and container gardens. We will even plant your containers for you.
Gifts and Jelly Room
We offer a variety of jams, jellies, dressings, fruit mixes, and much more throughout the season. Seasonal crafts are also placed throughout.
Fresh Produce
Beginning in March, our vegetable plants sprout in the greenhouses, then to be transplanted into our fields, which are harvested for your dinner table. Harvest times vary for different fruits and vegetables.
Fall
During the Fall, we offer hand-painted pumpkins, a variety of pumpkins and goards, our own apples, our own pressed apple cider, and homemade apple pies baked daily.
Bakery and Penn State Ice Cream
All season we offer a variety of homemade pies, cakes, cookies, coffecakes, and fruit breads. We also carry Penn State Berkey Creamery Ice Cream, along with our homemade frozen to-go soups.
Christmas
We offer pointsettias, fresh pine wreaths, centerpieces, pine roping, and christmas trees, along with cookie trays and gift baskets.
